Château Bas produces organic wines and proposes three ranges AOP Coteaux d’Aix en Provence: Alvernègue, Pierres du Sud and “ Le Temple ». Each of these cuvées is offered in all three colors.

The youngest red in the Château Bas range, Alvernègue will charm you with its frankness and generosity.  It is primarily a blend of Grenache, with some support from Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.  Drink it young with simple summer meals of charcuterie, chicken or white meats.

The rosé , light and fruity, is composed of the main varieties of red grapes found in Provence: Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah vinified at low temperatures. The aromatic finesse of Alvernègue is supported by a discreet but noticeable structure. It is the perfect match for a  Provençale menu or a summer aperitif with friends.

The white is a blend of Ugni-Blanc, Sauvignon, Grenache and Rolle.  dry and light , it goes well with shell fish and sea urchins.  Its natural vivacity makes it a wonderful starter to any meal.

The red is a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon harvested at the peak of maturity.  Maceration in tanks is medium to long depending upon the vintage.

The rosé is a blend of Syrah and Mourvèdre. The must is kept in first at low temperature for one week and allows to extract all the aromatic potential (stabulation) . It’s a very elegant, delicate and complex rosé.

The white is a marriage of Rolle to give it fullness and Sauvignon for its finesse and ability to age. Chateau Bas’ rich terroir allows it to obtain powerful and generous whites characteristic of the south, but which are equally crisp and fruity providing a refinement and  balance.

All three colors of Cuvée du Temple come from the best parcels of  Chateau Bas

All the whites and the rosés are vinified in oak barrels.  Maturing is on whole lees in oak or on fine lees in tanks. The mix of mature grapes and their vinification in oak produces complex and expressive wines.

The red Cuvée du Temple  is harvested at the peak of maturity and  comes from the finest parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon , Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre . A long maceration in tanks coaxes the noblest  tannins  which smooth out during their stay in oak barrels.  The intensity and complexity of this wine makes it an exceptional blend and a wine that will only improve with time.

You can drink Cuvée du Temple young or in 3 years for the whites and rosés , 5 years or more for the reds.
